JORDAN TENENBAUM
Senior Budget Advisor to the Coalition to Stop Flu
Jordan is known for cultivating meaningful, professional relationships with stakeholders across the political spectrum using his scientific, legal and public health backgrounds to communicate complex issues in plain English. He provides extensive experience in legislative, appropriations and public policy strategy.
Prior to SL Strategies, Jordan served at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the agency’s appropriations liaison to Congress and as a strategic advisor within the Office of Appropriations. Through this unique role he worked directly with agency leaders on appropriations issues, initiatives, and outreach for the agency while fostering strong relationships in Congress.
In 2012 Jordan was detailed to the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. As part of the Professional Committee Staff, Jordan worked on a bipartisan basis with committee members and staff to find fiscally sound and responsible solutions to a wide range of health care and public health issues across a majority of the HHS portfolio.
Prior to joining CDC, Jordan worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research performing research on non-convulsive seizures associated with chemical nerve agent exposure. While Jordan ultimately did not pursue a career in laboratory science, the fundamentals of his laboratory science background often assist in bridging the gap between the science and policy worlds, by distilling complex science into simple meaningful parts.
Jordan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University, and a J.D./M.P.H. from Emory’s School of Law and Rollins School of Public Health.
